Under 11's
This season saw some fantastic football from the under 11's, as they merge to form our new colts team we wish them every success. We also say goodbye to a several great players from the under 11T - Jack Osbourne whose played some really great games mainly in defense - Ash Howard who chased every ball and Bethany Robinson whose had to leave for no other reason than as a girl she can no longer play in Colts - good luck Bethany in a senior girls football team.
I also say au revoir to Glynn whose staying with Mini Soccer, Glynn has been a fantastic assistant coach and without who's help we certainly would not of got to where we did _ Thanks Glynn
Great Paxton 0 Priory B 2 - League Cup - Final
It might as well of been the Millennium Stadium. The air was electric. A full squad was available for selection and everyone was going to get a game. Hannah Taylor took the warm up. A team talk followed and we where all excited and ready for the game. The manager had hardly slept he'd spent hours deciding on his team selection, only to revise it after a brief consultation with his Asst a breakfast conference call.
Jake was Captain for the game and won the toss. We where to have the advantage of the wind for the first half, and was it blowing - is it ever not at Needingworth?
The opening team - Goalie Michael, Defender Ash, Jack and Jake Mid Field Ollie, Forwards Josh FC and Josh T - took a few minutes to settle - was it excitement or the thought of Priory's record against us?. We had nothing to fear as we soon settled into our stride. The play was fast and furious with lots of action across the whole park! Greg and Peter came on in the first half. Priory then pile on the pressure but great team work and plenty of encouragement . get us to half time - Michael keeps a clean sheet as do Priory. 0 - 0 at half time was a true result
Team talk and a few changes put Josh FC in Goal, in this half we see Brad and Reece playing some great football. Brads not afraid to get stuck in and Reece up front put one clean across the Priory goal - The head wind is making it hard - and tired legs are being pushed hard, everyone is playing their little hearts out.
5 minutes into the second half and the ref blows his whistle. A Priory defender stands holding the ball - penalty - but who to take it? who wants the honor, the pressure is immense. Ollie is nominated, he approached the ball, a great strike to the goalies right, the goalie dives and manages to get a hand to it, it bounces free, a scramble and its cleared, Oh!!! Spirits flag as
Disaster, a free kick 20 yards out, Its every one back, its direct, the goalie arranges his team to get a clear view of the ball he's got it covered - a deflection argh!! . Never mind its only one we can get this back... and do we try, the team really gelled working every ball but the wind against its like giving Priory an extra man.
A big boot send a high ball - with wind assistance - send the ball bouncing towards the Paxton goal - a goalie at full stretch can only just get his finger tips to it and its 2 - 0
The next 10 minutes see us work every ball brilliantly, but time ran out. We have been in the Final and done ourselves proud -
Well done team - Marks forgotten the chocolate heroes and by do you deserve you played great!
The presentation ceremony sees us all collect our cups. Man of the Match sees Jake receive a match ball for his sterling effort.
Ramsey 2 Great Paxton 3 - League Cup Semi Final
Celebrations all round with a 3.2 away win at Ramsey was the order of the day, The air was electric at 10.30 when we kicked off, a real FA official ref to keep us in check. A flurry of activity followed and we were soon piling on the pressure, just 3 min's had passed when Peter converted a great pass from Michael into our first goal.
2 minutes later Ramsey where caught off guard again as we launched another volley of shots at their goal with Michael driving our second home.
In the 14th minute another relentless attack saw Josh T hit the bar. Michael fired up by the excitement and the thought of going in goal in the second half made him eager for action and after a swift run down the wing sent a great cross to Brad who knew just what to do with it, and leaving the goalie no option but to pick the ball out the net for a third time. With seconds left in the first half Josh FC had more than enough excitement than he had cared for, as Ramsey drove the ball just wide of the post.
Half time saw some encouragement from the Great Paxton supporters club with praise especially to Ash and Jack who had defended brilliantly for the first half
A change of ends saw a change of fortune just 47 seconds in Reece drove the ball into the side netting of the Ramsey's goal giving them a wake up call - unfortunately it did just that - and they then dominated the first part of the second half clawing in back 2 goals
Tension was rising on the side lines and some questions asked of the managers change of strategy.
Ollie's tireless running in the first half was beginning to show it the second half, but lots of encouragement from Greg kept everyone on their toes until the final whistle went and a rapturous applause was heard we were now through to the final in a few weeks time see photos of the team by clicking here

Benwick 3 Great Paxton 3 - Great Paxton Won on penalties
The Great Paxton U11T’s took a well deserved win against a good Benwick side. Paxton went 2-0 up in the first half with two early goals from Peter Clark. When a Benwick sub came on he scored. After Paxton took kick off they gave it away to the opposition and Benwick found the net again. In the second half Oliver Missen scored from a clear corner but Benwick came back with an equalizer.
At the end of the match the score was 3-3 and the game went into extra time. However with the players tired they couldn't’t find an opening. at the end of 5 min's each way it was still 3-3.I an attempt to decide a winner there was a 10 min's golden goal but even then there was still no clear winner.
A penalty shoot out was called. After 5 penalties each it was still even . The remaining players went forward and despite a close competition Great Paxton won on penalties this was despite a great effort from Benwick
Man of the Match was Ollie Missen.
SQUAD:
Reece Barnet, Brad Boston, Peter Clark, Josh Fryer Cooper, Ashley Howard, Oliver Missen, Jake Neilson, Jack Osborne and Michael Smith.
Match report by Ash Howard – who typed up the report and posted it through my letter box before I got home from the game - he played pretty well to. Cheers Ash
Great Paxton 7 Ramsey 1
With the last of the official games over Ramsey rang to give us a friendly as a pre cursor for our next weeks FINAL. With the under 11T's still on a high it seemed a great opportunity to mix the two teams and show how well they could play together. What a result! The players gelled fantastically - an invincible team - Ramsey hardly got a look in. There was great inter-action from all the players, excellent man to man marking so important for next week, great passing and some super one twos, some really cool running with the ball and just when it mattered some great individual skills - play like that guys and we should win next week at Needingworth , and do well next year as Colts. Well played everyone.
Dave enjoyed his ride in the Ambulance and he's home now and got a week off work - get well soon.
Great Paxton T 6 Great N 0 - Well that's what the result should of been
. Team line u,up well that's where they started off,
Greg
Jack and Brad
Michael and Josh T
Ash and Ollie
Spirits where high and we won the toss. We kicked off down hill and dominated the first half with great positional play and some super marking, a couple great saves by Dominic just stopped us going into the lead in the first 5 min's unfortunately, a couple of lucky goals put the under 11N's 2.0 up at half time. In the second half we continued our fight and despite not having many shots in the second half we conceded a couple more. Everyone played well and it was generally a friendly home derby! The penalty shoot out after the game equalized the result especially when Iain missed his!. Man of the match was Andy Taylor for his skill as ref. A special thanks today thanks to all our avid supporters who braved the cold. Click on Andy Taylor to send him an E mail.
Priory 7 Great Paxton 2
We arrived at Priory Park with a full compliment of 11 players, lost the toss and started against a very strong wind. Most of the first half was played down the Paxton end, which was bravely defended against a barrage of Priory attacks and saw some great saves from Ashley. We were down 3-0 at half time but were confident we could pull back with the wind behind us in the second half. Priory continued to have the run of the game and slotted in a a few more lucky ones, unfortunately we failed to take a few early chances - blame the manager. Josh Taylor scored 20 min's into the 2nd half after a lightening counter attack, which started a swing in Paxton's fortune and saw them dominate the last 10 minutes. Another goal from Josh Taylor 5 min's from full time gave us our final total of 2, and he was unlucky not to have a hat trick with the last kick of the game. Flowing analysis of the result Mr G Osborne (Manager for the day) wanted to tender his resignation but as the Chief Coach was not available he couldn't - tough luck.
Ramsey 1 Great Paxton 2
The sun was out, There was no frozen pitch on this visit to Ramsey. The team where keen. Could anything be better!?. 2 minutes into the game and Josh FC put the ball just wide, the team were playing well. 16 minutes in Bradley scored his first goal for his new club with a great shot from the edge of the box, beating their keeper. Good passing meant that we dominated the first half and with just 6 minutes to go to half time Josh FC put us 2 nil up. Oh what a great day! Michael played well up front with his usual great runs. Josh T played well in midfield and helped out well in defense. Ash played well in defense and provided great support when Jake was taken off injured following a brutal tackle. Ollie played a great all round game in his new boots and was awarded man of the match! Greg kept an almost clean sheet, the use of his hands meant that he was awarded goalie of the match! Well done guys
Great Paxton 1 Needingworth 5
Our home game against Needingworth saw debuts from our 2 new players Bradley Boston and Reece Barnett. Having suffered such a crushing defeat last time a different strategy was needed this time - a more of a defense role!. Ash and Jake where our main defenders with support from Ollie who played exceptionally well in the first half. Despite an early clearance off the line by Brad which concerned the manager the team soon settled down. Josh FC scored a great goal following a corner from Josh T, this gave us the lead and took us to half time in a confident mood. A change of ends also brought a change of fortune. A early goal when the ball slipped from Greg's hands had a bad effect on his confidence and unfortunately the opposition capitalized on that. Soon we where 3.1 down despite some later clearances by Greg. Reece played well in the second half with some good passes to his new team mates. Michael was unlucky not to have scored in the second half only a blind ref could not of allowed it. MOM was Bradley Boston who on his debut played well and also went in goal when Greg had to retire with an Injury
Little Paxton 3 Great Paxton 3
It was bound to be an exciting game so soon after our home win against them just before Xmas. Could I also pull off the result that Andy had? Well 6 minutes in my fears where allayed when Peter slotted the first of his hat trick goals home. Generally we played very well and strengthened our lead to go two nil up, Early in the second half Peter scored his third, Little Paxton fought back valiantly in the second half their attackers keeping Greg on his toes - I was glad when the full time whistle went after they had pulled it back to 3-3. Ash played a storm er of a game and was MOM. .

Godmanchester 1 Great Paxton 2
Fantastic!! Josh FC's great goal 6 min's into the game gave us all the lift we needed and what a goal it was. A neat lob over the goal keeper and into the top corner of the net. Sixteen minutes in saw our second goal, a great cross from Peter, allowed Josh T to slot the ball into the back of the net. The tight marking and accurate passing allowed us to totally dominate the game for the first half. (Halftime 2.0). The second half saw a spirited fight back from Godmanchester with a couple of real goal mouth scrambles, eventually allowing them to score. Peter's encouragement of his team mates kept spirits up and despite some sloppy marking at the end of the second half we maintained our lead. Ollie's support -from the side line due to injury was very much appreciated as were Jill's mince pies at half time. Who's turn is it next week? Capt Michael. MOM Josh FC.
Great Paxton 0 Benwick 4
It was a glorious crisp morning at 10.00 when we started training!. In the absence of volunteers to referee the game, I, Mark was nominated - Robert kindly agreed to manage the team today. Peter Clark - capt - won the toss and chose to kick up hill. Tight marking meant that we played well in the first half but unfortunately were unable to score, something Benwick managed to do twice. During the second half saw Greg come out of goal and Ash played a blinder pulling off several great saves but despite his best efforts a goal mouth scramble meant they scored another early in the second half. Out flanked saw Benwick score a forth but despite the result we put up a brilliant effort with their goalie tipping several shots over the bar and it was nearly but not quite several times. The forwards tried hard but just could not quite pull it off, Keep smiling Roberts got the job full time.
Great Paxton N 3 Great Paxton T 0
Well what a fantastic game despite the result. You all played absolutely great and deserved to win. we dominated the game especially in the second half and it was only a couple of great one-twos by the opposition that let get past us. Peter returned from injury and played well up front as did JoshFC. Michael and Josh T played exceptionally well on the wing, Ollie in mid field did some good running Ash and Jake played really well in defense and greg did a great job in goal. MOM all of you. Well done guys --
Great Paxton 1 Priory Bees 3
With no reserves to draw on this was bound to be an interesting game!. Josh FC (Capt) won the toss, with the advantage of the slope we were soon attacking their goal, the play was fast and furious and after just 7 min's we went ahead with a great goal from Josh FC. Two minutes later Priory equalized with a scrambled goal. The second half saw Jake flatten half their team with some fantastic body shots stopping their players in their tracks. Some fantastic play in midfield and up front saw plenty of shots on target and both goalies learnt' their keep - unfortunately the end result was a 1.3 defeat for us. MOM was a hard decision and was awarded to Gregory Tack for his goal keeping. Remember goal side for the marking guys!!
Needingworth 7 Great Paxton 0
I am just glad its not the premiership yet otherwise they would be calling for my resignation!. The first half was a close fought game but dominated by Needingworth until we settled down, and, despite a couple of good breaks we did not manage to capitalize on the wind assistance so we went into half time with a 1 .0 deficit. The second half saw Needingworth attacking time after time, poor marking left us generally with two attackers and one defender approaching our goal, - without some great goal keeping from Josh FC the score would have been ever worse . The end result was a 7 nil defeat . Captain today was Ash Howard. MOM was Josh FC
Great Paxton 1 Ramsey 0
What a fantastic result for our first game of the season - well done everyone. The new 3.1.2 formation saw us playing great positional play. Greg captained our first home game in glorious sunshine and within minutes of the kick off Peter headed our first attempt at their goal just over the bar. Ollie's mid-field play saw him feeding the ball forward to Michael, Josh FC and Peter. A high tackle brought Michael off with injury following a really promising start. The second half saw us playing uphill and Josh T on the right wing making several quick dashes and then sending in some brilliant shots/crosses. Ash and Jake played a steadfast game providing solid defense. Eventually the goal came with a great volley from Peter leaving their goalie picking the ball from the back of the net MOM was Michael
If anyone has any relations in London would you please ask them to collect our new match ball from Kings X Station, thanks Jake back of the net next time not over the bar please.
