Under 10's

Under 10's

This year sees the formation of an under 10 team from the squad that did so well last year.

Below are some of the match reports from our last under 10 squad

21st May Saw us struggling to make up a home team with the Small Schools tournament on at Eltisley , how ever, we managed. Benwicks tight marking and closing us down made it difficult for us to dominate the game -- perhaps a lesson to be learnt from that. Plenty of action for our goalies too, both of whom did a great job with some great saves. Not all the action was at our end as Ollie scored from a penalty and Miles also scored on his debut. Benwicks dominance of the match saw them win 2-5. Well, better luck next time guys

7th May With Peter, Iain and Jake on the subs bench for most of the first half saw lots of excitement for Michael who pulled off some stupendous saves. only when he was out numbered 3 to 1did the attackers manage to squeeze one past him. The half time score saw Whittlesey leading 1.0. A slight change in tactics saw us pull some back with a commendable 4 - 1 win with goals from Ollie, Ash Iain and Alex ( again ). Well done guys. It would have been more had Michael not saved a penalty

30th April - Following on from last weeks win we all felt good -didn't we guys! - with Andy venturing North he must have been apprehensive but he had no need to worry with Mark back in charge and Glynn refereeing - Ref you must be joking!! was a comment from the side lines as a decision went against Great Paxton less than a minute into the game. Ash had won the toss and chosen the down hill slope with the wind behind them, a factor Jake used with a tremendous lob from in his own half and catching their goalie off the line, the ball bouncing beautifully into the back of Priory's net. The action was fast and furious but half time saw only a one nil lead. Our games against Priory are always close so when Ollie scored to give us a 2.0 lead things where looking up but not for long as they fought back 2.1 another from Ollie saw us 3.1 up but again undeterred Priory pulled another back. The final score of 3.2 to us was a great result- Well done everyone!!

23rd April It felt good to win again especially after we have all worked so hard. Ramsey have come on well and in the first half there was lost of action at their end with goal mouth scrambles and shots going wide. Early in the second half Iain's attacked put the ball in the back of the net. It was not until the ref signaled the center spot that the supporters - dozy lot - from Great Paxton realized what had happened. A second goal from Iain secured our win - well that's what the players thought!! until they where woken up with a charge from ramsey which left the goalie out numbered 4 to 1 needless to say the ball ended up in the back of the net fortunately the end result was 2.1 to us. But it just goes to show you can not relax guys. Well done everyone esp Ash with the fancy footwork and Ollie for his several one man attacks

16th April Match.....News update.....News headline.....Alex Smalley scores for Great Paxton T......anyone know what the end result was.

9th April Our first mid week fixture saw a great performance from our guys but the final outcome was unfortunately a 4.1 defeat by Little Paxton. Three of Little Paxton's goals came in the first half but everyone continued to try hard and remained confident which shows how hard we all wanted to win. It also showed that if we kept trying we might pull a goal back and my goodness did they suffer as virtually everyone had a shot at Little Paxton's goal and only a lucky break let them increase their lead. Good effort guys

2nd April Our trip to Catworth was not a happy one. We where the dominant team for the first 10 minutes but too many late nights showed as most of the team lacked fitness and this showed with K C taking the lead and dominating the rest of the game. Not a lot can be said as we no longer played as a team, with bad passing and a lack of tackling.

12th March - The lack of fixtures has not bode well for us, despite the friendly we had played against Eaton Ford we suffered at the hands of K C Cougars who played well and beat us 0.2 The result showed up our poor marking and the lack of ability to get a decent shot on goal - a couple of things to practice over the easter holidays.

12th February - We will all recall the defeat we experienced at Eaton Socon last time, well the training and hard work that you are all putting in has certainly paid off with a 3.2 win. Josh FC was captain for the friendly against Eaton Socon Colts who got off to a quick lead - whilst we were still waking up and thinking how easy the first half would be with the wind helping us how wrong we were. Peters equalizer soon changed that after a free kick from Jake had the ball in the penalty box and Peter was there to slot it home. Ollie scored a super goal to take us 2.1 ahead and then a fantastic bit of dribbling and a great shot by Ash put us 3.1 ahead. A high wind assisted lob caught Josh FC off the line to make a presentable end result of 3.2.

5th Feb.2005. - Saw the return match against Godmanchester C away at their ground kick off was 11.30 The first half saw Godmanchester take the lead with a three pronged attack on the Paxton goal giving them their 1.0 lead at half time not that we had given them an easy first half with Alex Ash and Josh putting numerous shots just wide of the post . The second half saw two great goals from Peter putting us in the lead and again some great goal keeping from Ash ensured that we preserved our win. Marking and passing had been poor otherwise we might have had more. Well done guys
