Training from 1st April at the Rec Ground Great Paxton start time 7.00 till 8.00

26th April Home win over Benwick 2-1

Still on a high from our mid week game we where feeling confident despite knowing that Benwick had been improving considerably over recent months. Paul and Gary where responsible for team selection/management this week.

The first half proved to be extremely exciting with Peter hitting the bar just 2 min's into the game , This was like a red rag to a bull and Benwick raised their game and piled on the pressure taking the lead after just 4 minutes when they had won the ball in midfield and capitalised on our weakness Benwick continued to dominate the first half and put our keeper Greg to the test on more than one occasion. Half time saw us break with a 0-1 deficit and a number of players carrying injuries

After a Ferguson style team talk we were ready for anything and came out confident, , a couple of swift goals From Ash and Ryan - both coming from moves from the midfield feeding the ball forward quickly and accurately - made us all feel a lot happier and as a result both ends saw lots of action, Paxton rattled the woodwork at the The Bell end more than once with Ash striking the bar and jack Striking several shots which either hit the post , bar or where deflected just over by the goalie getting a touch to it. MOM was Michael - just beating Ash to the title - for his tireless performance especially in the second half where he pulled out all the stops and just kept going. - Well done guys -

22nd April 09 Tuesday evening- Away win against Papworth Blasters

How appropriate is their name? - Blast it from one end to the other and that's what the game basically consisted of, there were a few nice moves when we managed to keep the ball down and string a few passes together, Goalies at both ends earned heir money especially Greg who proved to be a very safe pair of hands through out the game

Josh FC worked up a sweat - perhaps he could have done without the vest, Jake N pulled of some great defensive tackles, Ash what he lacks in height made up for in stamina and commitment, McT throws nearly matched the oppositions, Josh T 'got angry' and made some good hard tackles, Kieren wore out the pitch with his tireless running, Jack N made several strong runs, Ryan delivered the goods and Ollie's thunderous strike helped make the only goal of the game. MOM was Greg, and oops, nearly forgot the main bit of action in the 59th minute. The long ball from Goal to Ollie, whose rocket shot was blocked by their keeper and fell to Ryan who scored probably the most important goal of his career so far!!

19th April local Derby - Home win against Little Paxton

With just 9 players again this was going to be yet another exciting game, but the guys did not let Dave. I or themselves down, they played some absolutely fantastic football in the first half, the second was just as entertaining and with the wind against them they worked even harder.

The team,

Great goal keeping from Greg,

Strong defense Josh FC, Jake N (Capt) and Jake McT.

Good Midfield play, Josh T, Kieren, Peter, Ryan

Lonely but effective - up front, Ollie

The goals

Number 1 - Cross from Ollie, Ryan turns shoots, left foot one nil,

Number 2 - Corner Jake N, Ryan shot, Ollie followed up two nil

Number 3- Jake to Ryan- Ryan passed back. Jake's net lifter

Number 4 - Kieren's return from Holiday goal

Half time change ends Ouch and again ouch

Number 5 and really sweet - Cool clearance from Greg, Josh FC swiftly down the wing pushes it up to Josh T, swift advance and beautiful cross Kieren's second and the rest, well that's just history.....5-3 great win.. well done everyone MOM Josh FC

5th April Away at Linton

With only 9 players again this was going to be a hard game. we started great and survived albeit the second half was a bit hairy scary. Throughout the game everyone worked really well together moving the ball around and covering the ground, Kieren played really well, Max and Greg held the defense together beautifully. Ryan gave as much as he took , 'The Geordie' Mr McT scored a great goal. He was so pleased I bet he puts in in his header on MSN. Will add more to the match report about how well everyone played and Kieren's goals when I get a minute Well done team FAB RESULT

29th March away at Swaffham Bulbeck against Burwell Tigers. The line up below worked exceptionally well

Jake McT
Josh FC
Greg
Max
Ash
Josh T
Kieren
Peter
Jake N Capt
Ryan
Jack N

Apart form an early fright in the first couple of minutes we dominated the first half. Some great play from defense and mid field kept us easily on top, the 6th minute saw a cross from Kieren to Ryan who beat the goalie and slotted it coolly into the back of the net, 14 min's later saw Kieren deliver the goods by turning on the spot and scoring. Jake McT our stand in goalie kept a clean sheet until just before half time and pulled of several great saves.

The second half saw us continue to play some outstanding football but slowly or lead was eroded with an equalizer and then with seconds to go a cleverly placed lob just beat Jake to see a draw slip away in a game which we had played some brilliant footle and without doubt deserved to win. But that's the beauty of the game i guess Well done team and un lucky result for us.

22nd March saw a great game on Mother Day with a starting line up of just 10 players each and our stand in Ref Mr Mark Taylor who was just brilliant and kept the game flowing well despite the linesman's flag waving at one point where perhaps its conceded that the ball was just over the line - side line that is. Really good team play from all who played especially the 8 that where still standing at the end. Well done everyone.

8th March win away @ Waterbeach 3-0, Winning the toss and with wind assistance we played some really good football dominating the game and taking a 3-0 lead by half time. Josh T's cross found the mark just 20 min's in and took us into the lead . A couple of goalie errors allowed Michael to pick up a well deserved goal. Michael's second came from some exciting action in their 6yard box following a cross from Ryan, a flick from Peter and a great header from Michael.

The second half saw some great football from all the team, keeping the ball low and accurate passing made sure we continued to dominate and keep control. Worth of a mention are Josh FC with some storming defensive play, Jack N played strongly in in Mid field Greg held the defense together well with some great clearances, Max played strongly in the second half. Ryan ' and Peter where praised for their play.

Well done team MOM Michael

1st March Home game against Burwell. A slippery ball and a difficult save gave Burwell an early lead from which we never recovered. At half time they had a 5.0 lead, a rousing team talk at half time slowed their goal scoring rate to just another one, yet left us with a 6-0 defeat. A score which does not reflect how we kept pushing despite conceding those early goals. MOM was Josh FC

22nd Feb.. after a few weeks of snow bound pitches the Wembly turf was again out of bounds to the Under 14's, despite an agreement with the Rec ground that games would not be called of a couple of days before the game. Can we trust them?? Hemmingford kindly obliged and we played at their ground

Hemmingford took an early lead in the 12th minute despite some good goal keeping from Dom early on. The defensive formation working well especially Jake McT, Greg, Ash and Josh FC also playing strongly. Our first equalizer came from Ryan in the 20th min. 8 min's later Hemmingford went ahead again to break at half time with a 2-1 lead. Ryan and Josh T playing on the wings saw some sound crosses been fed in.

The start of the second half saw Max, Jake N and Ollie working well together, Ollie making a run on the goal in the 41st minute to bring the scores even shortly after his second took us 3-2 up. Our lead was short lived as Hemmingford equalized in the 56th min. Jack scored one a brilliant goal shortly after with a run through the middle to beat a couple of players showing good ball control and strength Further goals from Jack and Ollie cemented our win but not before Michael showed some great determination. MOM was a closely called thing with Ash coming out on top. Lino Kieren with his arm in pot did ok too!!. Mark - what a great guy he is shared his raffle winnings with Dave and a group of chocolate staved kids!!, Just remember Easter is coming and your manager likes those little chocolate eggs that come in a round tube from Cadbury's. Well done guys.

2nd Feb.., Probably our best game and certainly an entertaining one to watch. We played our best ever football , Peter, Kieren and Josh FC played some outstanding football, Dom played well in goal making some cool saves, Ash and Max thwarted more than a couple of good runs by the opposition and sound midfield play created more than a handful of chances for us

This was a very close game against a team with and unbroken record and a big goal difference. We took and early lead Chesterton pulled it back to come level, undeterred we went in the lead again and yet again or lead was eroded when Chesterton equalized again unfortunately with just 5 min's to go they took the lead and despite some fast a furious football we ran out of time. A great game well done everyone. MOM Kieren

25th Jan 2009 Saw us away to Godmanchester on their Astro. Our quickest goal of all time saw us take the lead after just 48 seconds , that's how long it takes Kieren to run up field , pass to Jack Noades who then put it in the back of the net, Goal number 2 came from a cross and an own goal. HT saw us 3-0 up with Mr Noades on fire after taking our 3rd goal just before half time.

Half time saw a few changes and Max arrive, Michael made some good mid field play before a short pass across to Jake saw him curl it into the bottom corner giving the goalie no chance. At the other end Dom was doing a great job keeping a clean sheet and strong positive defending from Josh T, Greg and FC stopping the opposition in their tracks. Our 5th goal saw Ollie pushing forward, lay it forward to Ryan who beat the keeper and slotted it home. Peter's skilful play was commented on by the Ref . and our final goal came from a really cool back pass from Josh T to ryan who for his second trick put it between the goalies legs!!

The final whistle went to see a jubilant and well deserved win to Paxton.Well done everyone great result!. Keep it up

18 Jan 2009 Oops! We went out of the Cambs Cup despite playing some good football, as one of my Man Utd. supporter friends once said, never mind we can focus on the league now.

11th Jan 2009 Hunts Cup disaster - ouch painful

It was an exciting cup game with lots of goals , unfortunately they where all at one end and it was the wrong end!, Despite putting up a valiant fight where we played some good football we where comprehensively beaten. Dom did a great job in goal and was man of the match, he pulled off some great saves, got back ache picking the balls out the net, and saved us from even greater humiliation. Well done everyone, lets put this one behind us and move on and WIN THE LEAGUE

23rd November Won 5-2 away at Little Paxton

Again another local derby. Despite going 2 -o down very quickly we soon settled into our stride and played some great football moving the ball around well , but more importantly not letting the score line affect our confidence. Josh T had the speed on the wing and was soon crossing balls in like there was no tomorrow. Up front we splayed one over the bar when we had an open goal - didn't we Ryan but then he came good . Jack Noades set the world alight on his return from the wilderness with a great goal. Dom pulled off some storming saves . Ollie, Josh T. and Elliott made their mark and added to the score sheet. Overall we played some great football. Greg held the defense together beautifully. Jake ran the full length of the pitch beat every one in sight and then put it wide, but only because he did not want to score anyway. Well done team keep it up!!

16th November Won 3 -1 Away in Round 2 of the Hunts Cup against Priory Park side

It was a difficult first 10 minutes until we settled down and started to find our feet, Our defense were tested, but stood up strongly against the pressure, soon we where pressing hard on Priory and starting to generate most of the play both down the middle of the pitch but especially down the wings. Josh T often outpacing his opponent. Our first goal came from a great corner to the head of the smallest player on the pitch Ryan Moorbey who headed home to put us 1 - 0 up. A couple of injury's meant a early substitutions, these impromptu changes worked exceptionally well with Michael feeding a long ball up the center to Elliott who scored with a great on target shot. Good refereeing allowed the game to run well. No changes where made at half time as our winning formula was working well

From the onset of the second half we played some truly fantastic football as a team with everyone playing their part. We consolidated our lead when Ryan scored his second, followed shortly by an unlucky own goal from MOM Josh T who was playing some really magnificent football on the wing.

Despite a late rally from Priory we knuckled down and really got stuck in! Everyone played well and many of the players who where signaled out by the parents and deserve a special mention were Greg, Kieren, Ryan, Ash, Elliot and Jake. As a team we played brilliant well done everyone and Ryan - many happy returns for tomorrow.

eh 9th November Away to Little Paxton..Camb's County Cup. Won 3-0.

With a strong wind against us for the first half this was going to be a good game. We started off extremely well with some really sound defending by all 4 defenders. Dom - in goal - played out of his skin pulling off some great saves. Midfield where fantastic controlling the play and managing to feed a few balls to the forwards, Our first break came when we worked the ball well down the wing and Max made a great pass to Josh T, who controlled it well and scored our opening goal. --- yes 1- 0... --. Our second came after Capt Jake made some considerable ground through the mid filed and fed it to Jack N who put the ball in their net for the second time.

Everyone played well in this local derby which has always been a closely fought game but we were on top.

The second half made saw the strong wind carrying many of our numerous shorts wide. A slightly dubious tackle saw a penalty awarded against us, could Dom keep a clean sheet? , he sure did, by psychologically destroying the guy as he walked up to place the ball the opponent who felt so intimidated by such domin ant goal keeping ( how about that for a pun!!) missed .. Our third - as dictated by Greg and as it happened so quick i missed it was " Ash came round on the ball, cracked the other guy in the face and we all watched the ball roll over the line!!" End result 3 nil away win and through to the next round of the cup

FANSTASTIC PLAY GUYS WELL DONE ---- Parents vote put Greg MOM well done

2nd November Home to Ramsey 2 - 2 draw

Despite going 2-0 down against a much improved Ramsey side in the first 10 minutes we managed to gain our composure and then play some really great football. The 5 - 3 - 2 formation with two attacking wing backs worked well when attacking but lacked the bite in mid field until a little a slight tweak in mid filed stopped Ramsey's' advance. We then settled into some good solid football.

Greg as usual played well in defence telling everyone what to do, Elliott's midfield skills meant we moved the ball around well, Jake's tackling and speed in mid field meant that we had the strength and agility to prevent Ramsey coming through the middle. Ryan played well on the left wing and took more than his fair share of the knocks, Ash delivered the goods again following a goal skirmish. Max MOM delivered the equalizer with a great shot on goal which stuck the underside of the bar to ricochet into the net making it 2-2 . Well done team you played well

26th October Away to Chesterton cancelled - unable to field team - fined and points awarded against

19th October Home to Papworth Unlucky defeat.

Despite playing the better football in the first half we where unable to score and Papworth made the most of it by taking a commanding lead by half time. In the second half we played some really good football, Greg cleared off the line and as a team we scored two great goals we where unable to pull the score back to a draw. MOM Ryan Moorbey for his constant battling well done.

12th October 2008 Away beat Benwick 8-1

Our first goal came from MOM Jake N's corner which stuck the near post and came out to Greg who open our scoring. Good defending and some confident goal keeping from Dom meant that we kept a clean sheet well into the game. The first half had seen some really long and accurate throw-ins from Jake McT who played a great first half.

Goals from Ash, Josh T and Michael put us in a commanding position before a great cross from Ash was headed home beautifully by Ryan - just the sort of thing you see in the Championship.

Ash scored his second. Kieren soon after had a long run before driving the ball high into the back of the net. Josh T after series of tackles made a long pass over to Kieren who also got his name twice on the score sheet. Its great when a plan comes together . Well done guys.

5th October .. Saw us win at home 5-2 against Godmanchester

The pitch was in great condition despite the rain which started falling just before we put the goals up. This was going to be a great game and probably very close judging on past experience against Godmanchester. Goddy took an early lead as a very wet ball skimmed past Dom in the first few minutes of the game. Max, Jake and Greg fell in line and played really well in defense making it extremely difficult to get anymore shots at Dom those that they did where taken well for the rest of the game. Our equalizer came from Ash with some fine footwork and a positive shot having beaten the goalie, Godmanchester then went back into the lead with a really well placed high lob giving Dom no change. Their lead however was short lived as just before half time Jack Noades scored a really great goal to make it even as we broke for half time.

The second half saw us score in the first few seconds when Ash put us in the lead, 3-2 . Kieren started pilling on the pressure down one wing as did Ryan and Josh on the other. Jack then scored a corker of a goal to take us further into the lead 4-2, Good team work all round especially in defense and up front meant that we started to dominate the game, a couple of lapses with poor marking allowed Godmanchester a couple of late chances until Ash consolidated or lead and scored his hat trick to make the final result 5-2

MOM Max D'Souza for his outstanding play at the back

21st Sept - Our second game of the season was a truly great result with a home win of 3 -1 over Aztecs

It was a cracking day and we got off to a cracking start with lots of pressure on Aztecs..Our first goal came from a demon of a cross from Ryan to Ash who slotted it home after just 3 minutes, however, our lead was short lived as Aztecs equalized just 2 min's later. There was lost of action and just before half time we took the lead again with Josh T helping the ball over the line. Halftime score 2-1. Early in the second half saw us consolidate our lead further with a long cross from Kieren to Elliott Garwood who slid in and put the ball in the back of the net on his debut match - What a great Start from one of our new signings

7th Sept 08. Saw us get off to a great start with a 2 - 2 draw against Witchford Colts.

Both teams played well but we undoubtedly controlled most of the play and where unlucky to not to score early on . The games first goal came from Witchford in the 15th minute when a high ball found the back of the net. We fought back, playing some really good football on the wing. Our first goal came from a great pass by Ash to Kieren who slotted it home. Just before half time saw us concede an OWN goal - wrong end Ryan - leaving us 1-2 down at half time. The second half saw some really good football from all players especially Michael Smith in defense who cleared off the line. Fitness needs a little work and remember to call for the ball. Our second goal and the equalizer came from a great cross to the edge of the box to be driven home by Jake N (Capt).Well done everyone great result.
